Karim Benzema has received Mahou’s Jugador Cinco Estrellas award for Real Madrid’s player of the season in LaLiga Santander.
The striker scored 21 goals and provided eight assists as Los Blancos secured the LaLiga Santander title in 2019/20.
Benzema was voted as the player of the season in a poll on Twitter ahead of Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde.
“I’m proud to have won this trophy because it comes from the fans and that’s very important,” Benzema said.
“I’m very happy and this gives me more hunger to do things on the pitch.
“[Winning the league title] was special and difficult too, but we did a great job.”
Real Madrid’s attention is now on Manchester City in the Champions League.
“The team is doing well,” Benzema added.
“Now we have time to work.
“We want to continue our form from the league and beating City is very important.”
